PALISADES The hamlet is celebrating the completion of the Oak Tree Road sidewalk at noon Sunday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Oak Tree Road is a winding road, and about a 550-foot stretch of the local road just west of Route 9W did not have sidewalks.
Since 2008, a group of local residents had petitioned the town of Orangetown to build a sidewalk there so that pedestrians can safely walk on it instead of walking on the paved street against traffic.
The ribbon cutting will take place in front of the Palisades Community Center at 675 Oak Tree Road in Palisades.
Town Supervisor Andy Stewart, representatives from the Highway Department and local residents who pushed for the construction of the sidewalk are expected to attend the ceremony.
