Pomona village Trustee Rita Louie will be stepping down from the part-time position as her company got a major contract to work on the World Trade Center.
Her resignation will become effective Sept. 19.
Louie, who was first elected trustee in 2007 and reelected in 2011, wrote in an email that her company, RJL Development Inc., has been contracted by Westfield WTC LLC to manage tenant coordination for the World Trade Center retail concourse.
Louie launched her career as a commercial project manager in 1983 and worked as a tenant coordinator for several shopping mall developers since 1985. Since 1997, Louie’s company has handled construction coordination for developers and builders throughout the tri-state area, she said.
Luoie stated that in light of the “extreme complexity and required amount of time necessary to complete this project,” she chose to step down from the village’s Board of Trustees.
The village is likely to fill the vacancy, with the term ending March 2015.
“It has been a great honor to serve my village as a Planning Board member, deputy mayor and trustee over the past 15 years,” Louie said. “I will miss my colleagues in Village Hall but will always stay active and engaged, as much as time allows, in the village, town and countywide events.”
