The 11th Annual North Rockland Community 5K Run/Walk event will be held at 9 a.m. June 8 at Bowline Point Park in Haverstraw.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the families of Aris Gomez, Laura Mariotti and Billy Keenan.
- Gomez, a North Rockland High School sophomore, had to remove an aneurysm and is currently going through extensive therapy at Helen Hayes Hospital, according to the event organizer. His family is in need of financial help to help pay for his medical bills.
- Keenan had suffered severe spinal injuries in a surfing accident and is unable to use his arms or legs. His family needs help to pay for his medical bills and to substitute the loss of income.
- Mariotti, a single mother, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and has been going through chemotherapy at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital. Her family is in need of help with her medical bills.
The event registration will begin at 7 a.m. The children’s race will start at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m.
