Stony Point town Supervisor Geoffrey Finn this week told me to drive by the former Lovett site.
Since Mirant Corp. demolished its power plant on the Tomkins Cove site in 2008, the property has been kept mostly vacant until recently.
But the 17-acre lot appeared to be as busy as ever Thursday morning.
Numerous mobile offices were seen. Cars were getting in and out every minute.
The site has been transformed into a staging area for the Tappan Zee Bridge construction project.
He felt vindicated when he saw that was actually happening.
About 100 people have been on the ground at the staging area, Finn said.
“All the businesses are thriving, our delis, pizzerias, cleaners. Apartments are renting,” Finn said. “Those people are in town for possibly five more years. So we’re very excited about that.”
