The Ramapo Town Board is likely to decide on the town’s paramedics service contract for the coming years at its meeting at 8 p.m. Dec. 11.
Ramapo, like all other towns in Rockland, has been under contract with Rockland Paramedics.
The existing contract will expire at the end of this year, and the town has requested proposals from interested parties.
The process is required by law, but it raised concerns among some medical professionals who were concerned that Ramapo might drop the local paramedics agency that has been serving the community.
Ramapo Town Board member Patrick Withers said he would rather not to comment on the ongoing negotiation but assured that the Town Board would not give the contract to an agency that has no presence in the area like some people rumored.
