GARNERVILLE The North Rockland school district is accepting petitions to run for the school board. Two seats on the board of education — currently held by Harry LeFevre and Robert Masiello — are up for election in the May 21 election.
Prospective candidates can obtain petition documents and all necessary information from the District Clerk’s Office at the administration building at 65 Chapel Street, Garnerville.
New York State Education Law requires that petitions be signed by a minimum of 76 qualified district voters. The signed petitions have to be returned to the District Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. April 22.
To run for the seats, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen who is 18 years old or older and who has lived in the district for at least one year prior to the election. District employees are not eligible to run.
