A Rockland grand jury on Wednesday1/30/2013 indicted a 66-year-old Riad Dib on murder charge in the brutal death of his estranged girlfriend Cecile Garbarino, 68, who was severely beaten with a thick-heeled shoe.
Dib, a squat man from Syria with a grayish mustache, is to be arraigned Thursday on a felony charge of second-degree murder. He will enter a plea through his lawyer before state Supreme Court Justice William Kelly.
The murder charge carries a prison sentence of 15 to 25 years to life.
Ramapo police found Garbarino’s battered and bloodied body just after 12:45 a.m. Friday inside the bedroom of her house at 171 Grandview Ave., at the corner of Forshay Road in Wesley Hills.
Police said Dib’s Syrian passport identified his profession as a priest. He has a permanent residency card dated 2006.
