The nonprofit organization Advocating for Change will hold a community meeting Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ramapo High School, 400 Viola Road, Spring Valley.
The public is invited to a discussion about the child welfare system as well as talk about solutions to the challenges faced by the East Ramapo Central School District.
Local elected officials, East Ramapo school administrators, local clergy members, representatives of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and others have been invited.
Organizer and parent Cassandra Edwards, of Advocating for Change, and Ken Mercer, husband of East Ramapo school board member Suzanne Young-Mercer, will moderate the discussion.
Snacks will be served.
The event is hosted in collaboration with the Children and Family Services office of the Rockland County Department of Social Services.
