The Haverstraw town Zoning Board of Appeals is likely to make decisions on parking variances requested by the developer for the Minisceongo Park shopping center at its meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Haverstraw Town Hall at 1 Rosman Road, Garnerville.
The ZBA meeting will be followed by the Planning Board meeting at 8 p.m., but the board may not make any decisions on the shopping center proposal as the applicant is seeking more time to make revisions to the plans.
The shopping center has been proposed for the 53-acre lot that straddles the Haverstraw-Ramapo border on Route 202 near Exit 13 of the Palisades Interstate Parkway.
Although it’s not a done deal, Eric Bergstol, developer of Minisceongo Park, has said he has been in negotiations with Wal-Mart to be the anchor tenant of the proposed shopping center.
Opponents have said the proposed development would destroy their community with additional traffic, air pollution, stormwater and crime.
