The 9th annual North Rockland Community 3-mile Run/Walk event, which was held June 3 at Bowline Point Park, has successfully raised money for three local families with extreme medical needs.
Each family has been presented $9,000 from this year’s event proceeds.
This year’s recipients were families of Brenda Fay, Gabriele DiCarlo and Krystian Santiago.
Fay of Garnerville, a mother and a wife, has been battling breast cancer.
DiCarlo, a Stony Point Elementary School kindergartener, has been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer.
Santiago, 13, is a Fieldstone Secondary School student who has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
The event has been organized by the towns of Haverstraw and Stony Point with the help of North Rockland High School Athletic Director Joseph Casarella and Past-President of Rockland Road Runners Club Michael Greco.
