Monsey’s own voice of the ultra-Orthodox community has been named director of Jewish outreach for the New York State Republican Party.
Yossi Gestetner, who writes the blog Gestetner Updates and tweets, often speaks to the media about issue in the Hasidic Jewish community in Rockland and New York City.
Below is the announcement from the Republican Party:
ALBANY…June 12, 2012 – Today, The New York Republican State Committee announced Yossi Gestetner as the Director of Jewish Outreach.
During the last seven years, Mr. Gestetner has been a resilient voice for Conservative values and Republican ideals.
Published and broadcast in a wide spectrum of Jewish media outlets, Yossi has illustrated his broad understanding and deep connection to members of the Jewish Community. For years, Yossi has worked with leaders and activists on a host of issues important to the Jewish Community and beyond.
The New York GOP looks forward to working closely with Yossi in creating a stronger New York for all.

A hasid doing Jewish outreach? Seriously? Let’s get something straight: Hasidim do not represent any part of the Jewish people except for themselves. The job title should be “Hasidik Outreach” and leave the Jewish outreach to the real Jews who’ll actually care about all Jews.

Glad that Yossi thinks it is spectacular to defeat a budget that was only 1.91% and the same budget is now being put up again….by his BOARD!

This is the same “gentleman” who was the spokeperson for New Square during the Rottenberg situation. He claimed that the boy, Spitzer, was only carrying at a Jewish ritual for Lag BaOmer. He also was the spokeperson for the organization that had a fundraiser for an accused pedophile. He does not represent Jewish values. I find it amazing that a community that relies so heavily on social welfare programs would be republican. I guess the GOP just wants the bloc vote. Total hypocracy by both groups.
