The Find and Assist Veterans of Rockland Program, known as FAVOR, got some new support from a local business that is offering a new discount to county veterans.
The details are in this news release from Rockland County (verbatim):
Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef and County Clerk Paul Piperato today announced that Rockland Chrysler Jeep Dodge is the latest business to enlist in Rockland County’s FAVOR (Find and Assist Veterans of Record) Program.
The program identifies local area businesses that offer military veterans discounts for certain products and services.
Mr. Livio Odoardi, President of Rockland Chrysler Jeep Dodge, joined with the County Executive, the County Clerk and Jerry Donnellan, Director of Rockland County’s Veterans Service Agency to give an overview of the $1,000.00 plus savings that Veteran’s can expect to receive if they choose to visit his dealership when purchasing a new or used automobile.
“The manufacturer of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge has always offered our Veteran’s a $500.00 discount,” explained Livio Odoardi, President of Rockland Chrysler Jeep Dodge. “But today, as we go forward, our dealership will match the manufacturer’s discount with an additional $500.00 in savings for our County Veterans.”
“This may be the largest discount that is offered through our FAVOR program,” said Vanderhoef. “We’re thrilled that another Rockland business has stepped up to the plate to support our military veterans.”
“This is a win-win for everyone involved,” added County Clerk Piperato. “Veteran’s are recognized and appreciated for their hard-work and sacrifice while area businesses have identified a tight-knit group of dedicated individuals as future loyal patrons.”
The Return the FAVOR program began in Rockland County in 2008 as a joint effort of the County Clerk and Rockland County Veterans Service Agency to make recently discharged veterans aware of their military benefits.
Once veterans file their discharge papers with the Rockland County Clerk’s office they are issued a FAVOR ID card that instantly makes them eligible for discounts that range between 10 and 20 percent of their purchases at participating businesses identified by the County-issued window decal. Discounts range from auto repairs to meals and haircuts to pet supplies.
For more information about the program or if you’re a small business interested in signing up, please call the County Clerk’s office at 845-638-5070.
