The litter shown here survived the winter just fine, having taken up residence along a Pomona roadside.
You’ve seen similar trash all over the county, unfortunately. But now’s the time to act.
You can get some fresh air, good companionship and the personal reward of making a difference if you help with the 2012 Great American Cleanup, being coordinated locally by Keep Rockland Beautiful.
KRB’s kickoff event is from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday April 4 at the Jesse Kaplan Culinary Dining Room, Building 9 at the BOCES Campus, 65 Parrott Road in West Nyack
That’s where you’d get your trash bags and litter grabbers. To attend the kickoff, call KRB at 845-623-1534.
The Rockland County cleanup schedule is April 14 in Nanuet, Stony Point, Hillburn and Montebello; April 21 in Congers and Spring Valley, April 22 in Nyack and April 28 in Pearl River.
Learn more at www.keeprocklandbeautiful.org.
The event sponsors are Tilcon, JCDecaux, GenOn, Orange & Rockland, The Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority and the Town of Clarkstown.

I wish our city did a better job of organizing a clean up day. Florida does a good job of having their state workers clean up the streets but there are still a lot of side streets that get missed. I live on one and am constantly picking up trash in my yard.
