Connor Corish Memorial Fund sets March 3 fundraiser
The annual fundraiser for the Connor Corish Memorial Fund will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Elks Club in Nanuet.
The donation for the evening is $60 per person. For more information or to attend, visit www.connorcorish.org. Donations can also be made on the website.
The evening will include a live auction. Items up for bid include tickets to the 2013 Superbowl including airfare and hotel; as well as a weekend in New York City with a Broadway show, dinner at Bobby Vans and overnight accommodations at a four-star hotel. Many other live and silent auction items will be available.
There will be entertainment by the band Wasted Time, the Rockland County AOH Pipe Band and Dermot O’Brien.
The event was created in 2009 to raise funds for the scholarships given to area students in honor of Connor Corish. He was 15 when he was struck and killed by a train in 2008. The Nanuet resident was a freshman at Don Bosco Prepatory High School in Ramsey, N.J., at the time.
One scholarship is given each year to an eighth grade student from Rockland or Bergen County seeking to enter Don Bosco and one scholarship is given to a Nanuet High School senior who has been accepted at a college or university. Eight area students have been awarded scholarships.
