Pomona Middle Schooler, Sarah wins Scholastic Scope Contest

Pomona MIddle school announce that they have a winner in a monthly writing contest held nationwide by Scholastic Scope Magazine. Sarah McDonagh, a seventh grader entered the magazine’s writing contest in December.

The contest was to write a response to a quote by Helen Keller: ” you will succeed if you persevere and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles.” Students were to explain how this quote applies to a young woman featured in the magazine who lost her lower leg in a accident.

The magazine gave the winner, Sarah a copy of the book, The Running Dream, by Wendelin Van Draanen.
