Jawonio, the New City-based organization that serves disabled children and adults, hosted New York State Commissioner Courtney Burke, of the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities today.
From Jawonio: Burke’s overview of the Governor Cuomo’s State of the State 2012 allowed local community members and those from Jawonio’s sister agencies to review the governor’s proposal. Burke took questions for more than 40 minutes, focusing on the areas of most concern to us as disability services providers. She responded to each question individually, listened intently and responded that we can count on her as our advocate in this challenging and rapidly changing health care services delivery environment. As we begin our 2012 advocacy work, this was a wonderful way to start the New Year.
