How’d you like to see Tony-winner Audra McDonald on Broadway and then spend a week in a villa in the south of France — while supporting a great little theater close to home?
Penguin Rep Theatre, Rockland County’s professional theatre, holds its sixth annual auction Oct. 9 at the Stony Point Conference Center, up the street from the theatre at 17 Crickettown Road in Stony Point.
Admission is free and the bidding is open on a host of great items:
Seats to Broadway’s Tony-Award-winning musical MEMPHIS,
Orchestra seats to THE MOUNTAINTOP starring Samuel Jackson and Angela Bassett;
Seats to THE GERSHWINS’ PORGY AND BESS with Tony-winner Audra McDonald;
Six tickets to the long-running Off Broadway sensation STOMP;
Tickets to Penguin Rep’s acclaimed Off Broadway musical, THE DEVIL’S MUSIC: THE LIFE & BLUES OF BESSIE SMITH, now entering its fifth month at St. Luke’s Theatre;
A week in a villa (complete with live-in help) in St. Paul de Vence, Cote d’Azur, France (pictured above);
A week in a cabin in Vermont;
A week at a North Carolina getaway;
A week at the luxurious Star Island Resort in Florida;
A watercolor painting of your home and a photographic portrait of your family;
A bottle of Bocelli wine autographed by Andrea Bocelli himself;
A mahogany grand piano;
Antiques, art, jewelry, and collectibles.
Andrew Horn, Penguin’s executive director, says the bidding will be open to online action this year, at the Bidding for Good website.
“So if you can’t attend, you can go on-line and place your bid now,” Horn added.
Professional auctioneer Gordon Rauer will preside over the bidding. Preview at 2 p.m., with the auction beginning at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Proceeds from the auction benefit Penguin Rep, now celebrating its 34th season.
