Penguin Rep’s executive director Andrew Horn told me this morning that the charming barn-theater on Crickettown Road in Stony Point will change its final mainstage production.
Instead of Mat Smart’s “Samuel J. and K.” — a show about brothers, basketball and identity — the final mainstage production of the theater’s 34th season will be Richard Dresser’s “Rounding Third,” about two Little League coaches with different approaches to the game.
It was seen at off-Broadway’s John Houseman Theater in 2003.
Horn was uncertain who would direct the production, which runs Oct. 14 through Nov. 6.
Performances are 8 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays; 4 p.m., Saturdays; 2 p.m., Sundays. $34, $20 for students. Discounts are also available for groups of 10 or more. 845-786-2873. www.pengunrep.org.
Meanwhile, “Shipwrecked!” runs through this weekend. See it if you can. And bring a kid. (Here’s my review.)
