Thinking of celebrating the Fourth of July at the concert at Trophy Point?
The U.S. Military Academy at West Point is asking that concert-goers not only to leave early for full inspections of your ID and your cars, but that you respect the grounds.
The academy does not want anyone staking out areas with rope, tape, tarps or blankets until after noon on July 4 or until after 4:30 p.m. July 5, which is the rain date.
The garrison commander has instructed the military police to remove all items that are placed on the Trophy Point Amphitheatre grounds for the purpose of reserving a viewing spot prior to noon July 4 or 4:30 p.m. July 5. Reserved areas must have someone present at all times or will be considered abandoned.
The concert is to start at 8 p.m., featuring Egner’s “Official West Point March” and Isham’s “Army Strong.” The West Point Band’s high-energy Benny Havens Band will take the stage with the concert band before a short solo performance. The concert will end with a fireworks display provided by West Point’s FMWR, set to the music of the West Point Band and West Point’s Cadet Glee Club.
Due to changing security requirements at West Point, call the band’s hotline at 845-938-2617, or check www.westpoint.edu/special before leaving for the concert. For information, you can also go to www.westpointband.com; or ‘like’ the band on Facebook.
