‘Sopranos’ and other actors coming today to S. Mountain Road
The Sopranos duo of David Chase and James Gandolfini will be filming at 5 p.m. today on South Mountain Road in Clarkstown.
Chase is directing a music-driven story set in 1960’s suburbia.
According to an Internet synopsis of the project, Gandolfini plays a Depression era parent after World War II who has given his kid every advantage that he didn’t have growing up, but now can’t help feeling jealous of the liberated, more adventurous destiny his son is able to enjoy.
Aside from Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano in the HBO hit series, the cast will include Brad Garrett, the put upon police officer-brother in the former hit TV comedy, “Everybody Loves Raymond.”Other actors appearing on the movie include Bella Heathcote, Christopher McDonald, Molly Price and comedian Lisa Lampanelli.
Clarkstown police will be on the scene — off camera — controlling traffic. The police will be paid $80 an hour by the movie company, which will reimburse the town for the officers’ pay, Sgt. Harry Baumann said. Baumann said four officers will share the 16-hour shift. Two officers will work 8-hour shifts together.
