Clarkstown Summer Theatre Festival is planning its 39th summer and a production of “Bye Bye Birdie.”
Auditions will be June 27 and 28 at Clarkstown High School South for students who will be entering grades 8 or just finishing their senior year. (Crew and orchestra require no audition and can have completed one year of college.)
The long-standing program runs Mondays through Thursdays from 6:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., from June 27 through Aug. 15.
Performances of “Bye Bye Birdie” will be the first two weeks of August.
Register at www.summertheatrefestival.com or by calling 845-634-2317.
“Summer theater,” as it is called, is coming off a disappointing finish to its 38th season, when a kerfuffle over the rights to perform songs from past productions forced the cancellation of the production’s second weekend. The choice of “Bye Bye Birdie,” a big-book musical, would seem to allay any fears of a repeat.
