A five-course tasting menu of German dishes paired with German wine will be held at Two Spear Street in Nyack on Oct. 21. The dinner costs $40. The press release, after the jump.

Nyack, NY…Spear Street invites patrons to a small plate tasting and wine sampling on Thursday night, October 21 at 6:30 pm. This five course tasting menu, prepared by Executive Chef Kyle Rubino, will feature the foods of Germany, along with a sampling of wines from the same region. Cost of the evening is $ 39.95 not including tax, gratuity and beverages (the wine sampling is included in the cost).
Tasting menu and wines for the evening will include a Knoephle Soup, which is a traditional German soup for the first course paired with Twisted River, Gewurztraminer Rhine-Kabinett, Germany 2007, a true Gewürztraminer, with intense pear, Apricot and litchi flavors, and a hint of mineral.
For the second course, guests will enjoy a Rotkol Salat which is a warm red cabbage salad paired with Black Tower, Rivaner Germany 2008; A medium dry white wine made from one of Germany’s most distinguished grapes: the Rivaner. A wine that has a consistent, delicate balance of fresh and crisp fruit flavors with just a hint of spice.
The third course is a Riesling sorbet paired with Leonard Kreusch, Riesling Sekt Mosel, Germany 2008. This is a well balanced sparkling wine which offers subtle green apple flavors with a hint of minerality which ensures a crisp, refreshing well balanced finish.
Patrons can enjoy a Duck Schnitzel, Herbed Spatzle for the fourth course, paired with Erben, Pinot Noir Rheinhessen, Germany 2009, a full bodied, well balanced dark fruit wine.
To round out the evening, German Chocolate cake for dessert, paired with Eiswein or Ice Wine, a very sweet, concentrated wine that is produced when grapes in late harvest are frozen while still on the vine.
Two Spear Street is located at 2 Spear Street in Nyack, New York. The restaurant is open seven days a week for dinner, Monday through Thursday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 pm-10 pm and on Sundays from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. Sunday brunch is offered from 11 am to 3 pm. Martini and Wine Bar hours are Monday through Saturday from 5pm and Sundays from 4pm.

Angelo Rubino opened Two Spear Street and the Nyack Seaport back in 2005. The restaurant and private event venue have been going strong since. Angelo has been in the food industry for over 36 years. Starting as a Busboy at age 16, Mr. Rubino worked his way up in the industry, learning all the facets of the business starting from dishwashing all the way to executing the perfect event.
Two Spear Street’s Dishes are an eclectic blend of New American Inspired Dishes with influences from around the world. The Nyack Seaport offers on-site catering in its private event venue, holding up to 200 people. The Seaport is perfect for bar/bat mitzvahs and weddings.
