Capt. Christopher Edwin Day, son of county legislator Ed Day, has returned stateside after a year-long combat tour in Afghanistan.
He served as a platoon leader and a senior logistics officer with the 4-73 Cavalry Squadron, 82nd Airborne Division. Day previously served a combat tour of duty in Tal’Afar as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
During his deployments, Day earned the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and NATO ISAF Medal.

e will continue his military service at squadroon logistics officer at Fort Bragg, NC.
