Ramapo among top 100 places to live

Posted by: James O'Rourke - Posted in Clarkstown, East Ramapo, Rockland County on Jul 13, 2010

The Town of Ramapo is recognized in a Money magazine’s 2010 listing of the 100 best places to live in the United States.

The list, composed of America’s best small cities with populations between 50,000 and 300,000, features Ramapo in the 88th spot and describes the town as a “quiet, safe suburb,” where “culture lovers appreciate the weekly classic film festivals, thriving arts and theater scene, and multiple town-sponsored concerts.”

The rankings were determined by a number of factors, including such aspects such as affordability of housing, available arts and leisure activities, safety and available jobs.

In a written statement, Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence said the 116,000 people of Ramapo ought to be congratulated on the national recognition.

Among the other ranked destinations in the area were Clarkstown (41st), White Plains (53rd) and New Rochelle (82nd).

Is that why every other house has a for sale sign in front of it? People are running as fast as they can to get out. St. Lawrence made this place a roach farm.

Whoever voted for Ramapo must not get around much. It is a cesspool and getting worse everyday. I agree with the comment above, people cannot get out of here fast enough. Everyone I know wants to go anywhere but here.
