Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the bagpiper of Baghdad

Posted by: Robert Brum - Posted in Uncategorized on Mar 18, 2010

Maj. Mike “Sully” Sullivan, a Rockland County native who is writing a weekly column about his experiences in Iraq for lohud.com and The Journal News, got a nice taste of home for St. Patrick’s Day.

His parents sent him an Irish soda bread from Rockland Bakery. He also dusted off his bagpipes and spread some cheer around Forward Operating Base Falcon in Baghdad.

In this week’s column, Sully also tells of the immense and cumbersome preparations that go into even the most simple maneuvers outside the base.

Read this week’s Soldier’s Story on Sunday on lohud.com and in The Journal News.
