The Rockland County Office of Fire and Emergency Services has just issued an updated situation report regarding the storm that is pummeling Rockland.
The National Weather Service now forecasts 15 to 20 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible, through Saturday morning.
The snow is wet and heavy enough to bring down trees and power lines.
The snow will continue, heavy at times, into Friday morning. It will gradually become less steady and lighter into Friday night before tapering off to light snow Saturday.
A winter storm warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected or already occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
