John Vasser of Nyack, center, received the 2010 Buffalo Soldier award during a ceremony at the Allison-Parris Rockland County office Building in New City on Friday. County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef and Jerry Donnellan, Director of Veteran Services were among the many well wishers on hand for the event. The Buffalo Soldier Award is presented each year to an outstanding African-American veteran who lives in Rockland County.
